Tuesday Tell-All

Tuesday Tell-All

*So I was upstairs this morning, trying to show Matt a move from my Pilates class (and trying to prove to him that it was impossible to prevent the small of my back from coming up off the floor), when all of a sudden, my marathon-toenail (which I’ve been obsessively painting over with dark colors so you can’t see the black monstrosity of it all) completely came off. Have you ever seen what’s underneath your toenail? It’s disturbing. And now even the darkest coat of polish couldn’t cover it up. Looks like I’ll be banning flip-flops from my wardrobe for the next three years…
*I know that last fact is gross, but as the title warns, this is a Tuesday Tell-ALL. Just sayin’.
*Last Saturday, I went disc golfing with Matt for the first time. Matt has been obsessed with disc golf for years, but I’ve always kept my nose out of it (mostly because I wanted him to be able to have his fair share of guy time). But since his best friend Mike got married, they’ve been joined by his beautiful bride Ashtin. So the last time they went, I decided to go along, too. And let’s just say that all those years I skipped out on Ultimate Frisbee . . .well, they showed. But by the end, I wasn’t looking like quite as big of a fool as at the beginning, so . . . progress.
*So our apartment has reached all-time insupportable epic heights of heat in the past week. The past three nights, it’s been in the mid-90s in our bedroom, so we’ve had to take up sleeping on the couches downstairs, where it’s *only* 86 degrees (even with the fans blowing). Last night our landlords called us to see if we’d be living much longer in the apartment. Even though we have no immediate plans to leave, I sure was tempted to tell them they could count on us leaving by the end of the week if they didn’t fix our swamp cooler.
*Matt’s whole family is in San Diego this week, except for us. We had been planning on going for ages (since last summer, actually) and had even saved up the money we would need to travel. But then Matt’s classes started, and we discovered (sadly) that he had a big test this week in calc and another in anatomy that he couldn’t change. So, to make ourselves feel better, we have been eating homemade chocolate chip cookies, watching The Bachelorette, and reminding ourselves that it probably would have been really loud anyway, what with 8 kids all under the age of 8 and 12 loud adults. It’s almost working…
*Speaking of The Bachelorette, I was SO happy to see that they all showed some integrity on this week’s episode by not spending the night together. It just made this little heart so proud.
*So, I mentioned awhile back that I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect dinner roll recipe. Well, no need to look further–I finally found it. And it’s INCREDIBLE. I’ll be posting the recipe shortly because these rolls are just too good not to share.
*We had Leatherby’s TWICE last week. I was in ice cream heaven for almost two full hours. It was totally worth the three pounds I had just lost from the wedding weekend a couple weeks back.
*I decided I get bored with my hair too quickly. Maybe it’s the heat and all the frizz it’s created, but I am just ready for a change. Of course, right now I want the change to be LONGER hair, so it looks like I’ll just have to sit tight for now and practice patience.
*I just started Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover, and I am getting all sorts of inspired. Of course, there’s nothing I can do until my job starts, but I sure am excited. We’ll be filthy rich here in a few years. You just wait. We’ll be eating pot roast every Sunday and everything.
*Well, time to go to the plasma center. What’s going on with you this week?
