*Check out this amazing dress I got for FREE from my friend Petrice (who has an impeccable eye for style). I accidentally spilled on it the first time I wore it, so it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to wear it again (just because yes, I AM that bad at doing laundry). Just putting it on made me feel like summer never left.
*Friday night I brought out a puzzle for the first time since moving into our apartment a year and a half ago. I used to fit together puzzles all the time as a kid, and just bringing out the pieces made me so darn happy. It’s the little things, you know?
*It seems like every year, I become obsessed with a different magazine (you all should know by now of my ridiculous affinity towards magazines). My current obsession? Country Living. When the beginning of the month rolls around, I breathlessly check the mailbox to see if it’s come yet. I was disappointed today, yet again. However, I just keep telling myself it’s because they have a KILLER Christmas issue coming up. Anyone else into the country style of interior decorating? It’s been my favorite style since I was 12 and wanted to be an interior decorator (a laughable notion to me now, but hey, I was a dreamer).
*Awesome news: they are now paying $10 more a week at the plasma center. Cha-ching! The only drawback to this–I have NEVER seen it so packed. The whole thing took me 2.5 hours yesterday (when it normally only takes about 1.5, sometimes less). But nevertheless, getting $25 instead of $20 felt pretty darn good. That’s five extra Dr. Peppers from the vending machine, people. This is big news. (I mean, it’s my sanity we’re talking about here!)
*Just for clarification: I do not, in fact, spend all my plasma money on caffeinated beverages. Just fyi.
*That’s not to say that I NEVER spend any of it on caffeinated beverages either…
*I have had these red peep-toe shoes forever. I mean, we’re talking probably almost ten years. And I still love them as much today as I did when I first bought them. The only problem is, one is missing the little rubber thing on the heel, which has got to be one of my biggest pet peeves…I mean, I already clack enough down the halls as it is, and it’s just plain embarrassing to be walking along and have two different-toned clacks. Mortifying, really.
*Last night I busted out for the first time this winter what I affectionately have dubbed my mom suit. Basically, it’s a baby blue cotton/polyester tracksuit-type thing that just looks like I should be taking a leisurely stroll around the perimeter of the mall while pushing a stroller. (No offense intended–I adore my mom suit!). Pretty much I want to live in it.
*Daylight savings = YES! Seeing the sunrise for the first time in who knows how long these past two days has been a little piece of heaven. It just warms the soul to not have to drive to work in the pitch black, you know? I mean, it makes me think that there are actuallly other human beings out there, awake and alive (besides, of course, the truck drivers who are constantly going 40 in a 60 in the one-lane highway on my way to the school).
*Today I have my after school club that’s all about money, and this will be the first time I’ve held it since a student stomped out last week after I told him to be quiet. I already have to get a Dr. Pepper every time to just get me through, so we’ll see if I’ll need to scrounge up some chocolate as well . . .
*We don’t have access to Youtube at my school, and it DRIVES ME CRAZY! I never realized how much I used Youtube as a teacher until I no longer could use it. Just today I was thinking, “I should look up a country swing dance video for my kids” (since that’s what I’m teaching today in the little ballroom/swing class I do). But alas! I guess my students will just have to put up with me trying to remember how to do moves that I haven’t done in about 3 years. . .
*Even though I said in yesterday’s post that we went and saw Wreck-It Ralph, I never said anything about how I felt about it. I’ll sum it up in two words: Hilarious. Heartwarming. What more could you ask for in an animated feature? Have you seen it yet? If not, what other good movies have you seen lately? We’re in the market to see some new ones…
Happy Tuesday! What’s going on in your world today?
