10 on 10, Raven

10 on 10 (a day late again)

Well, here we are–another month over, another 10 on 10 post (and I, once again, am a little late to the show, this time due to a hair appointment yesterday an hour’s drive south for me, which somehow basically took up our whole day).

To say that this summer has been passing by insanely fast would be an understatement–if I were still planning on returning back to teaching at the end of this month, I would legitimately be freaking out right about now.

But as it stands, I am grateful for the few minutes I take each day to try and capture just a little glimpse into our lives because they help me to slow down, look around, and appreciate the exact stage we’re in right at this very second. The summer may be passing by quickly, but as I figure it, I doubt life is going to slow down anytime soon, so I might as well try and savor it as best as I can.

P.S. I’ve been playing around with my camera (and different editing styles) a lot lately, so the style of these pics will be kind of all over the place. If you get a second, I’ve love for you to tell me which of these pictures stands out to you and why–it would really help me to look at my work with fresh eyes.

1// Even though she still has some rolls and folds and baby chubs on her, Raven has definitely slimmed down since starting to walk everywhere. Even I have started to notice that she looks more like a full-on toddler now (rather than always wearing those special mom glasses that make me see the baby in her all the time).

Oh, and that bottom picture? I basically have come to a peaceful acceptance of the fact that our front room floor will look like that from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. every single day.

2// Although teething pains seem to have somewhat subsided for now (making her less whiny and clingy than before), we are still enjoying the extra snuggles she’s willing to give lately.

3// Peek-a-boo never gets old.

4// We’ve got a world-class mooch on our hands. (Admittedly, I think she gets this from me.)

5// Taking advantage of Daddy napping to try and figure out the remote once and for all.

6// This was the month she mastered the stairs. (It sure helped that the cabin we stayed at in Island Park had plenty of them.)

7// We could probably go to her third or fourth birthday at least without buying her any toys. Seriously, though.

8// Morning walks with Dad are a must in starting the day off right. (Even if the ducks seem to be hiding more days than not whenever we go out and look for them…)

9// This girl’s hair is getting LONG, and now her little pony seems to do that effortless flip thing where it’s like, “I woke up with it looking this perfectly messy.” Also…calculators. She loves playing with all the calculators. Of course, I’m chalking this up to her surely getting my math skills and not just to the fact that she loves anything with buttons she can push…

10// We joke that we should have Raven audition to sell beverages because she drinks with such gusto that I promise you it will make you feel like you’re dying of thirst, even if you just downed a big ol’ mug of water. The good part about it is that it keeps us all hydrated around here.

And, for a few bonus pics (of after-bath time and pressing-your-face-against-a-warm-oven time and can-we-go-outside-already time)…

Summer, you’ve been good to us so far.

Oh, and just so you don’t think I forgot, here are your bonus videos:

Raven loves it when Daddy gets home
Raven somehow learned to nod her head in time to the music anytime
we started singing a song. Luckily for us, it doesn’t matter how unoriginal the song is,
it basically works every time (hence the reason there are two videos here).
