A Snapshot of My Life Today

a picture of me right now

Time I woke up: 7 A.M. (a little early for me–normally I wake up closer to 8)

First thing I did upon waking: said a prayer, then sneaked into the bathroom as quietly as possible so as not to wake up Raven

Current weather: snowing (and pretty hard, too)

Last 3 things I read (not on the Internet): two books to Raven before her nap (an attempt at a longer Berenstain Bears book that went unfinished and an Eric Carle book on Opposites), this church talk, and Cinder (a series I finally started only after I made Matt be the guinea pig and start it first).

Last website I visited: Bloglovin, to see what was new in my blog feed

Last show I watched: Gilmore Girls (last night)—having never watched the series, we’re on our first run through of the older episodes, and I think we’re in season 4 now (it’s hard to know with Netflix unless you’re consciously looking for it)

Last thing I said: “Love you, Raven—you sleep so good” (right before I put her down for a nap, and yes, I know my grammar is terrible there)

Last out-of-the-ordinary thing that happened: I woke up to an alarm clock this morning (NOT to Raven—so weird) so that I could go out and take pictures around our little city here as the sun rose. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I discovered Eugene Atget’s work photographing Paris. Now, I’m no master photographer, but I HAVE been trying to think up some ideas of personal photography projects, and in the spirit of Atget, I’m doing a little series around Logan (and actually created an Instagram account for it if you’re interested: @snapshotsoflogan). Sample image below.

Last thing I ate: a saltwater taffy (which is hilarious because I don’t even like saltwater taffy that much). I ran out of Hershey kisses a couple weeks ago and have been trying to not buy/eat as much sugar/chocolate as before, but the shortage of kisses has just made me make cookies (twice) and eat candy I normally wouldn’t (like taffy) to fill the void. Yeah, I know I have a problem.

Current whereabouts of other members of household: Raven is sleeping in her crib (hallelujah for those days when she actually takes a morning nap still!), and Matt is at work.

What I was doing an hour ago: Playing blocks with Raven and taking her outside to check the mail (where we’d received one of the books I’d ordered for her for Christmas).

What I’ll be doing an hour from now: If Raven is still asleep (miracle of miracles), I’ll probably be doing the dishes and getting ready to go out to the store. We still don’t have a Christmas stocking for Raven (we didn’t actually buy her one for her first official Christmas last year—whoops), and she’s old enough I think to at least semi-appreciate that experience this year. So out we will go, in the snow and slush (and I will try desperately to talk myself out of getting a hot chocolate from 7-11 on our way back; we will see how successful I am at that in about three hours.)

One thing I should be crossing off my to-do list today: Going to our ward’s Christmas choir rehearsal tonight. And buying the aforementioned stocking.
